Zion or Bryce National Park?

I am camping about an hour from Bryce and 2 hours from Zion. Its never just camping with my husband and 2 boys. Its got to be hunting /fishing/atvs/ to the extreme. But we also have my Cousin, wife and to young boys (3 and 5) with us on this trip. They are not used to the outdoors or the fast pace we do. I want everybody to have fun and hit one of these parks while we are out. We are currently at Panguitch Lake and my boys are bummed because the fishing is unusually terrible.

What would you reccomend and why please?

You are definitely closer to Bryce than Zion, if that makes a difference. Bryce is much more interesting than Zion. It has rock formations (Hoodoos) that you don't see almost anywhere else. It is a very different and unique national park. Zion is beautiful also but the scenery is a little generic and can be viewed in other national parks. In addition, as you are traveling on Route 12 from the lake to Bryce, make sure you stop at Red Canyon. It is right on the side of the road and it is like a mini Bryce and a good warm up before you get to Bryce. If you stay overnight in Bryce and have more time, you can continue on Route 12 to Kodachrome Basin and onto Calf Creek Falls. Also stop at Mossy Cave which is only 3 miles East from Bryce on Route 12

Zion may take you twice as long to drive to than Bryce so keep that in mind.

PS--don't bring any firearms into any national park so forget the hunting, fishing and atvs and get out there with nature and see some awesome natural beauty.

I've been to both when I was kid, and they are both great - I can't choose one over the other.
