Anyone been on Maverick at Cedar Point?
I am going in a couple of weeks with my sister and I can't wait to try the Maverick but she doesn't like the rides where her head and neck get banged around. The Maverick has a lot of twists and turns and seems fast so I was wondering if someone can tell me if it is bad in the head banging/jerking department.

Maverick isn't as smooth as the Millennium Force but it's definitely not as rough as the Corkscrew. (:
It's one of my favorite rides! (As you can see, it's my Yahoo icon) To reduce and prevent the "headbanging" keep your head straight. I rarely get headbanging and I'm only 5'2'.
It might also help if you sit near or in the front because the back of the train is usually the roughest spot.
Have fun and put your hands up(:

I've been on it countless times. It is very fast (72 mph), but is in no way jerky. The horseshoe rolls are the only pats of the ride that are remotely close to being jerky. If want to avoid jerky rides, stay well away from Mean Streak. But still, that doesn't keep Maverick from being the scariest ride at Cedar Point.
By the way, the best ride there is hands down Millennium Force. Then Magnum XL-200, and Raptor is also awesome. Top Thrill Dragster is a must - being the world's 2nd tallest and 3rd fastest. The lames ones there are Corkscrew and Iron Dragon.
Good luck, and have fun!

No it's not too bad. It's not really a headache inducer and doesn't "bang you around". It just looks that way from the off-ride perspective but when you're actually on it, your body flows quickly yet smoothly with the g-forces of the trains. Don't get me wrong, there may be a jerking or yanking movement here or there but again, it's nothing too intense. The ride's just very QUICK.
Have fun!

I would say that it can be. Number one it depends on the hight of the person, when we get off a ride my and my mom will say it jerked are head alot and my dad will say he didnt feel a thing (taller) and my sister didnt either (shorter). Since ive been to coutless amounts of amustment parks and have been on the maverick countless amounts of times i have learned to keep my head still and it dosent bother me. However my aunt didnt like it that much because it jerks you alot. Also theh first couple times i went on it my earring got pelted into my neck. This is the ride that actully made me learn to keep my head still.....awesome first hill though....have fun
