Accumulated 6 points in 18month period if i take the defense driving class do i still need to pay the DMV $100?
i live in NY i accumulated 6 points in a 18 month period. DMV is charging me $100 for a driver responsibility assessment fee. I was thinking of taking a defense driving class to cut 4 points of my license but im still wondering if i do that will i still have to pay those $100

of course you still have to pay it, you're a crappy driver...hopefully a lil $ out of your pocket will help you to see the error of your ways. Bright side, taking a defensive driving course might get you a discount on your insurance (all insurance companies are different, so ask your agent)

Yes because you accumulated all those points so you do have to pay DMV the $100. While you can drop some points through taking driver safety class it only helps with costs of insurance. They (Police/DMV) still see your complete driving record that goes may many years and the class completion cause that is also submitted to DMV.

The defensive driving class ONLY effects the number of points required to suspend your license. The fine is COMPLETELY unrelated to points and the class. You still have to pay the fine.
Note: The class actually doesn't take any points off your record. it increases the number of points that you can have without having your license suspended.
