Does Olympic Boxing need to go?

After watching the French and Canadian boxers get totally screwed by the Judges it is so obvious that the fights are pretty well pre-determined. i.e The Canadian won rounds 2 and 3 (no way the Brit got 4 pts in Round 3). Fight is tied, yet somehow the Brit wins on "countback" (which is basically a way for judges to fix a fight). Brit was warned 3 times about holding the head, but no point was taken away. Earlier an American got his decision overturned because of that exact problem, yet the Canadian's appeal was rejected without comment.

Olympic Boxing is the Summer Games Version of Ice Skating.

Update:

According to the Canadian sports media, the appeal was denied without comment..thats what they said and I figure they would know. French guy was in tears..Thats the Olympic Spirit there. Trian 4 years to get hosed.

did you see fight between the japanese fighter shimizu and abdulhamidov from azerbaijan? the abdulhamidov spent 2/3 of the 3rd round on the ground attempted a total of 2 punches and somehow got 10 points to tie the round and win the fight. it was overturned but the fact it happened is horrifying.

its bad, olympic boxing has always been corrupt, this year seems a bit worse than normal. the scoring system is also retarded, I don't know if it needs to go, but it definitely needs to be seriously reviewed, and most of the people in charge probably need to be removed, its been a joke for as long as i can remember and its getting worse

I haven't watched any of the boxing to know exactly what you're talking about. With that said, I think more and more every Olympics the sports which are primarily scored on judging need to go. A lot of it is probably because there is so much more media coverage these days but people seem to complain the judging gets worse and worse, and even if it's not, there is always too much subjectivity that gets in the way. In my opinion there is too much subjectivity in sports which judges come into play very much.

Boxing can of course be won without going to the judges, but that's pretty rare with the short fights they have in the Olympics, so I consider it a judged sport.

Why you don't train as an internal Olympics judge and then you can go sort it out?

It needs to go. If it does not go, they should change the format.
