My wife was in a parking garage fire, who is responsible for medical?
My wife is coughing very much. She was on the third level of a parking garage and did not realize there was a fire until she was breathing a lot of smoke. She went down the three levels and the firemen called an ambulance but she told them she has no insurance. They told her the fumes are toxic and to call 911 if she continued coughing.
I will see to it that she gets to our doctor. We are struggling with medical bills already though so, if ethically and legally, someone is responsible that would be nice. Not seeking anything more than to get checked out. I am worried about her coughing but it has only been several hours.
There was a vehicle on fire on a level beneath her. I do not have a lot of details but the firemen were concerned about the fumes of plastics and rubber etc. I am not anxious to sue but thought maybe it would be a no questions asked routine accountability by either the owner of the vehicle or whomever was responsible for the fire. She is handicapped so couldn't get out as quickly as another might have.
I just want to be sure she is ok, not seeking anything more!
Thank you for the answers.
No thumbs down from me, I appreciate all answers. @ HD thanks, I guess I am in a bit of a panic and didn't realize it.
@jad... Ok, I am sure it will probably be a vehicle insurance, Thanks for the starting point.

Who was responsible for the fire? Faulty wiring or something like that then sue the garage owner. If it was a vehicle on fire you will sue the owner of the vehicle and their insurance company. Start with the garage company because they will know the responsible party.
Edit: then get with the garage company, as they are going be suing the car owners insurance co. for damage to their parking garage.

you didn't say what caused the fire. if it was a vehicle fire the garage isn't responsible. if the fire was caused by negligence of the garage then they would be responsible. i wouldn't panic yet, like you said it's only been a couple hours, i'm sure she'll be ok.

Since SHE is getting the medical care and has no insurance, SHE is.
DUH.
Now if she wishes to attempt to sue someone else to get reimbursed for that expense......
