Why do Republicans constantly choose far right running mates?
Why did Romney choose Ryan who is to the far right? We need some moderation in this country. Palin kept me from voting McCain now Ryan will keep me from voting Romney. Not voting for Obama so I am left w/ a 3rd party. Might as well burn my vote. Why can't they just try a middle o the road running mate to solidify the country rather than separate it? We NEED campaign finance reform. No more bowing to lonbyists.
A person who wants his Idea on religion to run the country is far right. His quote saying the thing about God given rights not government given rights is laughable and far right. He is government. He doesn't want god given rights. He wants Ryan giving rights. Also, to abolish abortion is far right. Let women choose. They know what's best for them. Not government.

Well, the last few have been more liberal than the core of the Republican party would like, so they pick a far right conservative to try to bring those people into the fold and get the whole party behind them. Alternately, they pick someone from a region where they aren't doing as well/with a large electoral college number. This is why places like Texas or California are popular choices. In this case, Ryan supplies both. Romney hasn't done as well in Wisconsin(Ryan's state) and Ryan is far more on the conservative side than Romney.

The Republican party usually tries to balance the ticket. If a moderate like Bush, McCain or Romney is the Presidential nominee, they'll usually go with a more conservative VP nominee (like Chaney, Palin or Ryan). When a more conservative candidate wins the Presidential nomination, they'll usually go with a more moderate VP nominee (Reagan picked George H. W. Bush, for example).
It makes no sense for the Republicans to put two moderates or two more-conservative candidates on the same ticket. Most people who follow politics to any degree have figured this out.
Most people also vote for the Presidential choice, not the VP choice. The odds of a President not finishing his term and the VP having to take over are actually pretty low.

Both parties such rotten eggs.. what do you expect? Even Greece had 3 serious parties. The US is a 2 party dictatorship run by the corporate elites.

Ryan is the best choice. He is not far right. He is a sensible conservative. Twice as many people in the US call themselves conservatives as do liberals admit to being liberal. 40% to 20%.

Republicans are picking candidates who will appease their most controversial viewpoints. I do not understand the thinking. But today's Republican party would consider Reagan a liberal for his views about immigration, taxes, etc.
