A recent question stated that “reason and logic” can lead to “faith.”?

Another stated that atheists do not value “the intelligence of the religious.” It is only fair to give both of you an opportunity to explain, logically and intelligently, why I should have “faith” that god exists.

Update:

Ben -- do you lack the ability to articulate your position, or are you simply lazy?

Update 2:

Tiki -- To the contrary, there is no chance you are an atheist WITH Jesus.

That's an excellent question. It comes down to what you're willing to accept without evidence, coupled with what you're willing to accept AS evidence.

For some people, the Bible (or the Qu'ran) is the word of God, without doubt. As an atheist, I'm convinced they couldn't be more wrong. There are a whole lot of people on each side of this argument, and plenty in the middle.

Why should I have "faith" that He doesn't? In order to believe something isn't or is real you need both logic and faith. Science says gravity is real but they don't really understand it. I believe God is real but I don't really understand Him. We can assume both to be true but both take some degree of faith and belief. Nothing on either side is 100% known.

religion insults peoples intelligence...If you can get people to belive the story of jesus and that he is gods son and then say that jesus is god and people still believe it then that's proof of how stupid people can be by beleiving in something soo irrational but they only choose to believe becuas ethey are unsure of the unknown and what comfort.

have you heard the story of scientology...they think a galactic warrior trillions of years ago started evything and that takes alot of balls to say to someone and expect them to believe it.

There is no need for religion plain and simple. rerligion is one of the main causes for problems in this world. Confussion, etc. It screws with peoples minds
