AP Tips? (World History + Comparative Polisci)?
I'm going into my sophomore year and planning to self study for two AP exams the coming year: AP Comparative Govt and Politics, and AP World History.
My school uses the IB system so I don't really know anything about AP, and I was hoping for some general or specific tips:
- How long should I study for the two tests?
- How should I study (Any recommendations of textbooks, good resources..?)?
- What things are hardest on AP tests generally?
- What are the general expected grades for AP? <-- I'm a pretty good student, I catch on quickly in school (I hope :P), I've taken 3 years worth of general history classes in middle school, just got back from studying Legal Studies in EPGY Stanford summer camp, but no real previous experience with PoliSci... What grades can I expect? I'm willing to work hard.
- How important is AP? (How do unis see it etc.)
- Specifically for AP Polisci and History: For those of you who have taken either or both of these two tests, how hard are they? What things should I look out for?
And anything else you'd like to throw in there would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I don't know if you have the same system as my school did because i studied in the U.S but...
Study for the tests as long as you think you need to study for them Just make sure that you remember it all and understand it thoroughly.
I suggest you use the AP college board books because those summarize exactly what's on the AP tests.
Generally the things that are hardest on the test is the essay portion where you have to right a small essay for an answer. Most tests require you to write multiple ones.
I think that you would do great considering you took all those classes, and remember, AP classes count as an extra 5 credit points on your GPA if you get a C or higher.
If you pass the test with a 3 or higher, then universities count it as a credit and you might not have to take that class in the university. Afterall, AP stands for Advanced Placement which is basically a college course.
I have taken the Political Science AP test and the most think you should remember are the amendments and make sure that you can read graphs correctly. And try to memorize every court case that is mentioned in your book, you have to cite those in your essays during the tests.
By the way, Political Science is by far the most interesting subject i have ever taken! it was so fun and It's a great introduction because you have to take more classes like it in college depending what you want to major in. :]
Hope that helped!

I took each. ( World as a soph and Comp as junior) learn as much as which you could and go to as many tutorial periods as that you can, Quiz-let is first rate, so is your Princeton assessment. Use the textbooks you're given... Take excellent notes you can review time and again it is major to don't forget purpose and result. Maybe the essays, typically you might end up no longer having a clue what to put in writing, so you give you BS. I don't know, it relies on your instructor. I received all As. It looks really good, suggests your perpared acedemically if you happen to rating excessive. I propose going to the university board website for more general information and a few certain textbooks stuff (gain knowledge of courses) The aforementioned site has it damaged down as to what percentage of the scan issues what so maybe which you could divide your time for that reason it's best difficult if you don't know what the question is discussing. Use process of elimination, and if you're baffled, learn the question once or twice and every answer alternative. I acquired a 4 on both of the assessments out of 5, and i believe I did not be trained all that tough, although I harassed over them a little bit. Considering the fact that you're willing to work tough, i do not see why you won't score excessive.
