does secondhand smoke make ex-smokers addicted again?

I'm on my third day of quitting smoking and a few of my friends want me to go and see them, and they smoke a lot in their house although they've all promised me they wont give me anymore cigarettes but i'm scared of being in there for hours because i've only just recently quit?

I can imagine there will be a lot of peer pressure; everyone smoking and you having quit. I don't think it's as much issue of the smoke as it is seeing your friends puffing out and enjoying themselves.

If I were you, I'd probably wuss out and not go there. I'd give it some more time, until you feel comfortable around people who smoke.

    Good luck!

My wife is now an ex smoker. She basically quit cold Turkey. One day at work she ran out of cigarettes and couldn't leave to get anymore, she went for the day with out smoking and decided not to smoke anymore. Its something you have to want to do, if you really dint want to quit nothing will make you. her first week was touch, she slept a lot more then normal and it was hard for her not to smoke if she didn't have anything else to do so she had to keep busy. She still wants a cig every now and then but with her will power and my Support shes Still not smoking. Ive heard when you hit 6 months of not smoking that even harder then right after you quit because your body is getting rid of all the nicotine. Again what it boils down to is you really have to want to quit. If you don't then you didn't want it bad enough.

I stopped smoking a month ago and now when I smell smoke in a car house on someone or around me I HATE the smell. It's stronger once you quit and so easy to pick up but it just makes me not want to smoke even more

My husband quit smoking, But i still smoke. He tells me sometimes that he has urges to smoke and he just fights it. Me smoking around him does not make him want to smoke again. Its just when he gets in the moods to smoke. I can quit smokeing around him but he will once in a while have that urge. It takes will power to be strong enough to not smoke even around smokers. an yea he hates the smell of smoke. He cant stand it. So i try to stay away from him. I have talks with him about him not smokeing anymore. And he has talks with me not smoking anymore.

it will not make you addicted again but it will be very tempting i wouldn't go if i was you but if you do go ask them to please not smoke around you and ask them to go outside for the time your there because if you are around the smell of the smoke its going to make you want to smoke i hope they respect that your quiting and will be polite around you
