How can I get rid of this white stuff in my hair?

For the past 2 months there's been this white stuff in my hair. It's not dandruff because it's not flaky and it's not on my scalp- its just at the side of my fringe. It looks like dried paint. It doesn't come out when I wash it and if I tug at my hair using my nails, bits of it come out and it seems to have a powdery substance. I don't have a clue what it is. I've tried changing shampoos because I thought that could be the problem but it didn't work. Any ideas on what it could be and how I could get rid of it?

don't go out when it snows.

seriously, go to a really good independent pharmacist, with samples, and ask.

try GP (but they'll likely only refer you to a dermatological clinic ten years from now, however you never know - blood tests may be indicated, vitamin definciency could be the cause, worth a consultation).

check out soaps, shampoos, conditioners what have you changed recently?

check out diets have you gone onto a special diet

try selenium pills (though there are those that say it can't be absorbed that way)

obviously, be sure to be particular about washing bedding and pillows frequently, boil your flannel, check towels are not contaminated, combs and hair brushes disinfected every day.

    GOOD LUCK
