Can conservatives explain to me how the Voter ID law is necessary?
Forget the fact that it discriminates against minorities, the elderly, and the poor. That it is completely biased towards Republican votes.
Explain to me simply, why a law is needed to prevent something that almost never happens. 10 cases in 12 years....
Even the RNC could only find about 300 cases in the last 12 years, which included things like mis-entered adresses which an ID couldnt fix.
So tell me, why is this a necessary law?
And don't even try to throw ACORN at me...
This is from Factcheck.org
■Neither ACORN nor its employees have been found guilty of, or even charged with, casting fraudulent votes. What a McCain-Palin Web ad calls "voter fraud" is actually voter registration fraud. Several ACORN canvassers have been found guilty of faking registration forms and others are being investigated. But the evidence that has surfaced so far shows they faked forms to get paid for work they didn’t do, not to stuff ballot boxes.
Sure, I will explain it,
here are the statistics of people who do not carry ID
Blacks: 25%
Asians: 20%
Latinos: 19%
18-24 year olds: 18%
Seniors: 18%
Earning less than $35,000: 15%
Whites: 85

sorry about the multiple postings, im not sure how that happened, probably because I used the back arrow
Teekno, if voter fraud is so common where is the proof? You talk about how it is so common, well if it is never documented, how do you know it is a problem?
Do you not see the problem in your argument, in the absence of proof, you are merely speculating about the issue, but you are stating it as if it were a fact.
You can write inflamatory responses about how I am "supporting fraud" but I have already stated a major problem with the law, ie that it discriminates against people who are less likely to need and own a photo ID.
I didn't even mention the millions of dollars that is being poured into this

Because voter fraud through identity misrepresentation is, by many estimates, common in many places. And the reason that it's common is there's no risk. If someone fails to convince a poll worker that they are the person, they just leave.
See, you seem to be under the impression that the number of convictions is a measure of how widespread it is. But since there's almost zero chance of even getting detained for it, that's not the case.
Let me put it this way: in the State of California, which has an age of consent of 18, there are almost no criminal convictions where both people were under 18 at the time. So, does that mean that nobody under the age of 18 has sex in California? No, it means that it's a crime that is almost impossible to prove.
EDIT: In my state, every registered voter is given a FREE voter ID card. There are exactly ZERO voters without ID. And yet, the Democrats opposed it. So... why do you think that is? It can't be about the lack of ID, since everyone has one. There must be another reason they want people to be able to vote without showing ID.

The voter ID laws are necessary to keep people from voting! If every eligible person were allowed to vote, Con-men would not be able to cheat and steal, which is what they really want to do.

Apparently Republican's just love beuracracy that much... Nah, i'm just kidding. Their strategists believe it will provide an advantage in swing states. Furthermore they are the party of exclusion.

Can Democrats explain to us why they are against someone providing legitimate identification to vote?
Do you support fraudulent voting?
I don't believe it's asking too much for someone to prove who they really are to cast a vote.
Nothing discriminatory about asking someone to prove they legally have the right to vote.

obviously no one has been charged, because they have connections. which makes it easier for them to vote with dead peoples IDs. this would simply cut down on the fraud.
