How long after OSUT do you get deployed to an area of combat?
I'm leaving for basic in 2 weeks and my MOS is 19K (tanker). I go to Fort Benning for my OSUT for 15 weeks. I was wondering how long it would take for a person with a combat MOS such as mine to get deployed after OSUT is done.
And by deployed, I mean to Afghanistan or any other location that is in combat

It all depends on when the unit you end up getting assigned to is slated to deploy. You could deploy within a week of arriving at your first duty station, or it could be in 2 years.

It varies, and the answer is likely to CHANGE in the next 3 months. Talk to your recruiter for a current ESTIMATE.
