55 gallon aquarium vs. 75 gallon aquarium?

For worth of the money, you should compare the set up cost and the maintenance cost. the bigger the tank will lead to bigger set up cost if you want to set the tank nicely and with good filteration but the positive side is less maintenance cost and less hassle as the water parameter will be more stabil in the bigger tank.

If you have the space, get the 75G (est 280L) compared to 55G (210L) as the bigger volume of your tank will be easier to maintain as water parameter will be more stabil when you do routine water change.

For example, in a small tank and bigger tank, for the bigger one, water temp will will be more stabil as the temp gap can be slowly interact with the fish in the bigger tank and this will help to avoid the shock of more cold new water to the small tank.

For 75G, I would suggest you get the dimension of 90x60x50 high or 120x50x50cm, the longer tank the better as fish can swimm more freely and you can see some fish swim faster from the left to right or vice versa. This is also better for territorial type of fish that make it more less agressive.

For fresh water, the bigger tank also will be more flexible when you mixed the fish in the tank and do not forget to check the compatibility of the fish that you will put in the tank, for example: if you want to get red tail shark, you can only put one in the tank unless the fish is a pair.

Bigger tank also will be more flexible for filteration in the tank as you can get bigger filter without worrying about water turbulance in the tank as you can face the filter inlet straight to the water surface to make a similar waterfall or you can use the tubing and face it up to the water surface to make a wave on the water surface.

Finally, for what ever size that you would decided to get, ensure you spend the money in good water conditioner and filteration with good bio media in the filter and try to get at least 4 times water turnover per hour in your tank, this mean your water volume in the tank will be 4 times getting filtered in the tank. For example if you got 300L tank, your filter should have the power up to 1200L per hour. The bigger the better but it also depend on the size of the fish that you want to keep.

Small fish will be to hard for swimming in the high turbulance tank and it will stress them and this will lead to illness or worst case - dying.

Aquarium 75 Gallon

I suggest you do research and find out which is the better deal. I'm sure the 75 gallon aquarium is what you want but it may be more expensive, getting the 55 gallon would probably will be the best deal cause you will have to pay less money and you don't have to worry about having many problems with the fish tank. Hey man if you can afford the bigger tank and it will fit, do it up. I think it all depends on what you want to do with it. I mean, you can do pretty much everything in a 75 that you can do in a 55, the only difference being that you can have a lot more fish in a 75. You can also get larger species of fish like Oscar cichlids and not worry about them growing out of the tank.

It all depends on what you are going to keep in it. If you have a lot of fish, enough that 55 gal isn't enough then get a 75. But usually 7-8 fish and be kept comfy in 55

A 55 gallon can hold about 1 shark, as 75 could hold two smaller sharks, considering its freshwater
