Isn't calling Abortion a 'Women's Rights issue' like calling Slavery an 'Owner's Rights issue'?
Once we consider a fetus to be human, a woman doesn't have the 'right' to kill it.
But before we consider it human, her rights are not in question.
So how is Abortion a Women's Rights issue?
Isn't it a Fetal Rights issue?
During Slavery, was the issue EVER about slaveholders having a 'Choice' to own?
Or was the issue entirely about the Rights of African Ameircans?
@ Stainless - Actually current Abortion law holds the fetus to be 'human' after the second trimester. That's why 3 trimester Abortions are illegal.

How dare you question!
You have discovered why the pro-abortion crowd doesn't like to have discussions about the "when life begins" question.

"Isn't it a Fetal Rights issue?"
Yes, it has it's own human DNA (which is different than animals even thought it may contain certain elements the same. ) So it is human and alive and growing from the date of conception.
Do we say any life is not worth saving just because it isn't developed mentally or physically enough or needs supports for a time? Or is an inconvenient to some for a time? I should hope not as that would cover many people.
I'm a women, I understand the issues. And yes there are some sad stories. But what has this helpless baby done that it deserves to be cut off once it's life has just began?

I don't know if Abortion is a Women's Rights issue but I know it makes the concerned woman very sad

It always seemed to me that Roe V. Wade put the right to privacy higher than the right to life. Which I found rather discouraging. I agree that we do have a right to privacy, but it has to have obvious limits and you would think ending a life would be beyond the pail.

You can say a lot of things 'once we consider a fetus to be human'. It's that initial assertion that begs for some explanation. Especially if you intend the term 'fetus' to encompass what medical people call 'embryos'.

Yes. "Fetus" is latin for child. so it is a child. and genetics confirms that it is human. Democrats say they don't want to ignore science, but they do in this case.
And it's not a "parasite." A parasite is never the same species as the host.
And if people want to call themselves "pro-choice" on this issue, then I suppose anyone who objected to slavery on moral grounds but who didn't want to make it illegal was not "pro-slavery," but "pro-choice." Many abortion advocates can't even bring themselves to say the word "abortion." That in itself is very telling.

A fetus has some of the mother's DNA and some of the father's. It also has its own individual DNA. It is not just the mother's body.

I don't consider a fetus a human.Problem is that you people on the right want to restrict access to methods of preventing pregnacies. The morning after pill is an example of restricting access to birth control. Also there is no law recognizing a fetus as a human being.
Actually that's why the vast majority of abortions are done during the first trimester. Also it is a { medical} issue which means it is none of your business.

I like your line of thinking a lot!
Carrying it one step further... If pro-choicers were alive during the days of slavery, using their line of thinking, they may not have approved of owning slaves but didn't feel it was their right to condemn those that did.
