Looking for some insight please?

I'm trying to get a little more into these political stuff and something I'm not really understanding is, what's the importance of seeing Romney's tax returns? Also, if you feel like throwing in more information about the political campaigns, go ahead, I'm just trying to learn all I can.

Update:

The more I read about this stuff the more it seems frivolous. Aren't there more important things to worry about and look into than some geezer's tax returns? This is just as pointless as Obama's birth certificate. Seeing either one won't change anything, except in this case it might sway the vote of a hand full of liberals...

In essence, this all boils down to Mitt Romney's claims that his experience at Bain Capital make him qualified to be president and turn around the economy and create jobs. The problem is that his public statements contradict filings with the SEC and Massachusetts financial disclosures. Consequently, his tax returns are the most reasonable way to find out what the truth is. There is also the fact that President Obama has released 12 years of tax returns (8 when he ran for president and another 4 since being elected), and it is tradition to release more than 2 years of tax returns.

Liberals want to.prove that Romney doesn't pay any taxes, but that problems arises from the fact that our tax.system is messed up.
