What to do to help a 2 year old get over diarrhea?

My son had some diarrhea this morning. Any remedies to help with this?

BRAT diet: bananas, rice, applesauce and plain white toast until the diarrhea stops. Plenty of clear fluids: water, broth, or Pedialyte. If he's not better in 2-3 days or he shows signs of dehydration, you should take him to his doctor.

all the answers on what to do from the other people who posted are correct, but one thing you don't want to do if the diarrhea continues is use baby wipes as it will irritate you son's butt. On top of the diarrhea hurting his bottom if you use the wipes the alcohol in them will make him get a really bad diaper rash. Instead either get a wash cloth with warm water to wipe after he goes poop or rinse his bottom in the tub and let it air dry so he doesn't get a diaper rash. Trust me I know i learned the hard way as i am a first time mother, and i felt so bad when my son got a diaper rash on top of having diarrhea. I'm pretty sure you don't want that for you little angel.

Don't do anything unless or until it's gone on til tomorrow too. They sometimes have a weird poo but will be fine the next day. Also check for signs of teething as it makes them have loose stools too.

If it's going on for another day or so, make sure he's drinking water so that he doesn't get dehydrated. Cut out the diary products - if he's got a stomach bug, dairy makes it worse - for a couple of days until you see his poos go back to normal. Try to cut out things like pears and a lot of fruit too, as it can also be unhelpful. Bread and rice are good - they're bland, fill him up and help his stomach too.

Keep an eye on him and if he gets a high fever, take him to the doctor to be checked for gastroenteritis (a low fever can be another sign of teething). Good luck :-)

Plenty of fluids to help restore liquid lost from his system after his bout of diarrhea. Try some Calpol to assist this process, it will also help relieve fever if he is experiencing this too. Hope he feels better soon!
