Should News media's be persecuted for deliberately misleading the general population?

There is too much brainwashing in America. News should be about facts. We should be allowed to decide our views based on those facts, not have opinions forced onto us by so called straight news anchors.

In addition, as so many of these news outlets hold *opinion stories*, should some of these news outlets be renamed as opinion channels instead? (looking at MSNBC and Fox News here).

It is true that the successful mass medias have an agenda which is to keep people watching their programs, and their news so advertizers will spend to subsidize the news between their commercials.

Government and private news media are designed not to spread the truth but to promote their own agendas.

Politicans want to push fear so people will feel they are needed and will let them have access to their tax dollars.... and weapons merchants are of course now in control of mjuch of the media, to sell the public on the necessity of the government purchasing helicopters bombers etc from them ...

People who expect someone selling them something to be honest are idiots. Unfortunately, we are brainwashed into believing our cgovernment is good and our leaders are not corrupt to push their agenda and ability to manipulate us into letting them have the power over us and our paychecks..

Should they be punished? No more than a lady in a dress shop should be punished for telling some one that a dress that looks terrible on her looks good so she'll buy it. Its the same thing.

buyer be ware! Never ever believe the media has ;no agenda... always watch the news kee3ping in mind the frame of reference of the sellers of the advertisements and the ones who own the stations, which sadly, too often are one ande the same as those who sell weapons of mass destruction and are looking for an way to convince you and me that our hard earned tax dollars should be going to purchase them.

    War mongers!

As an example of how idiotic the masses are and how cleverly advertising can manipulate people, did you ever hear about how diamonds were advertised to be 'a girls best friend' and how 'diamonds are forever' to get people to waste thousands on dinkly pieces of old carbon that have been shined up and placed into a metal band?

More recently the diamond merchants are advertixing how diamonds can also represent self love and indiependance and that singlwe unmarried people should therefore purchase them for themselves out of self love to prove they love themselves?

And people fall for4 this crap... and will go to war for bad causes when the news media twists the truth to convince us to purchase the war weapons their sponsors sell!

the bottom line is you can't blame someone for trying to sell you on a bad thing and news is always a one sided story to convince hyou to stay on their channel so you will buy whatever they want to sell you.

When you BELIEVE THE MEDIA EVER EVER EVER you've been duped...

Absolutely. They have us spinning in so many cul-de-sacs that we never even debate the real issues. Obama not holding enough press conferences, Romney not releasing his tax returns, who said this or that, Ryan's black ex-girlfriend. It's like watching a reality show on TV. Sadly that's what most American minds have been dumbed down to.
