Is it safe to live in an apartment for a month with severe amounts of mold in the walls?
I moved into my new apartment complex on August 16th. From the day I moved in I could tell that there was a musty and very moist feeling in the air. I reported it to the apartment manager and long story short, they tested the walls with a moisture reader that gave half of walls (300 square feet out of 600) a level 10 moisture reading* (they stopped testing the walls after seeing so many level 10s). The apartment manager agreed to let me out of my lease and I found a new place but it isn't ready for move-in until September 9th (two weeks from now). I have a cat and I'd hate to move her to a hotel with me for two weeks then into my new apartment, again. Is it safe for my health to live in my apartment for two weeks in this kind of environment?
*Level 10 is the highest moisture reading a wall can have

Actually, only a small percentage of mold is toxic, but you don't know what kind of mold you may be exposed to. If the mold is toxic, your cat is in more danger than you are, because of her size and the she probably stays in the apt. while you leave it, maximizing her exposure. If you value your health over your convenience, you should move out since you have the option to do so.

Not all mold is toxic. In fact, most molds are not. You might have allergy issues with it, but it sounds like it has not bothered you to this point (just not pleasant), so I would not sweat it. Two more weeks is not going to give you additional problems and any mold problem is not going to get significantly worse in that time period.

Ma'am, I am not a perfesional, nor am I a doctor but from past experience and knowledge, I feel that you should not be staying in that house. I'd recommend going to a doctor and having some tests run.
Good luck!

A month won't kill you, but I wouldn't go longer, nope, your health is at risk.
