What's more important, your own happiness or other peoples'?

I'm at a cross road in life. I have a decision to make, one option could save my happiness. The other option is to save someone else's. There is no middle-road. Normally, I try and do the right thing, which I usually think is the least selfish decision and having compassion. But if it means sacrificing my freedom, is it really "right"?

If one does that which proves to be beneficial to all others, he or she will find that they have also acted so as to have been beneficial to themselves. We serve ourselves best by serving others.

If your mind is free then no prison can hold you.

No, sacrificing YOUR freedom is being selfish

and you would just be a Martyr...

    HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE

You are only responsible for YOUR Happiness,

not others Happiness, that is their responsibility.

You can enhance another persons happiness.

Doing the 'Right Thing' is to Love Yourself,

be your own Best Friend and put you first,

You are just as important as others.

You cannot give what you do not have.

If you think of 'other people', as your child, a really close family or friend would you hesitate to put them first?

Sometimes making someone else happy first, you get the same back yourself.

On the other hand if you make yourself happy first, you're in a position to make someone else happy too.

    Both can be win, win.

We definitely live in selfish times, so it's nice you're even thinking the way you do. Many won't. Without pausing for breath it's, me, me.

    God bless.

Sounds like an important long term decision you are about to make. Your own happiness is more important because you have to be happy with yourself before you are able to make others happy too.

Your ONLY goal is to live YOUR life, not sacrifice it to some group or other person. I would think sacrificing your welfare and happiness in the service of others would lead to intense anger and frustration - though you may be able to supress it and be miserable.
