I'm at a cross road in life. I have a decision to make, one option could save my happiness. The other option is to save someone else's. There is no middle-road. Normally, I try and do the right thing, which I usually think is the least selfish decision and having compassion. But if it means sacrificing my freedom, is it really "right"?

My husband and I are going to be moving to northern Wisconsin to homestead in the next 3-5 years. Problem is we know no one else who's interested in doing this. We don't want to just go up there and HOPE there'll be people to meet. Aside from loneliness I think community is extremely important for help and support. Anyone know a website or anyplace I can find like minded people?

I'm using an old tank with an old filter, do I still need to cycle it? The sides are coated in bubbles, should I wipe them off?

I'm looking at a home which is double-wide set on a concrete foundation (with basement) on its own 4 acres. I'm told a Rural Development 0% down will not qualify. The problem is I don't have much of a down payment. Can an FHA be worked onto a manufactured home or is FHA out of the question?

I have a credit card and two student loans totalling 10k. My credit is low, not poor, just low. Will getting a debt consolidation loan raise or lower my score? It will certainly help me pay the debt down quicker and I do understand the fees and collatetal, my question is, is this a positive or a negative on your fico score?

I don't have very good credit or credit history but I would like to buy a home in about 6 months. I don't have large amounts of cash to just start paying chunks off my debt. I have had 90 day lates in the past. If for the next six months I make on time payments will my credit go up at all?

Also- I will be able to save about $1000 before we apply for the mortgage, should this money be saved for good appearance on the mortgage application or should it be applied to my debt for credit's sake? (note- this $1000 is not part of the down payment, we all ready have 5% for that).

I'm not interested in turning lead into gold, I just want to know if, at the fundamental level, is alchemy theoretically viable?
