The names Maisie and Auden?
Okay, so this is two questions in one.
Maisie:
I like the name Maisie a lot. Pronounced may-zee. However, it seems a little nick-namey to me. Do you know of any names that it could be a nickname for. I thought of maybe as a nickname for Margaret or Matilda, but it's a bit of a stretch. Do you have any suggestions?
Auden:
I know that Auden is originally a boy's name. However, I was reading a book and the main character was a girl named Auden. That was the first time I had heard the name. I have grown to really like it on a girl, rather than a boy. Since it is uncommon, do you think it would work for a girl?
Thanks!

I don't think there really is a full name that would work well with the nickname Maisie unless you really stretched it. I do think it can be a name by itself, however. I had a friend named Mazzie, but I actually like your spelling better. I think it's a really cute, fun name.
Auden is a bit more daring, but I think it would work. I would just pair it with a really feminine middle name, like Auden Caroline, to make it less masculine.
Two thumbs up from me :)

Maisie is a nickname for Margaret and yes it does sound too much like a nickname. I do love the name Maisie though and even considered using it for a while. I have honestly never heard the name Auden before but it sounds sort of like Autumn which is a girl's name. Then again I know an old man named Alden and it sounds similar to that too. I feel like I would guess it's a boys name rather than a girls but there are plenty of girls with boy names now. I had to shake my head when I read someone wanted to name their daughter Brody which not only is very masculine but I find too similar to grody aka dirty. But as long as you pair it with something more girly (not too girly though or it will look silly!) it will be fine.

I know Maisie sounds nicknamey but other than being short for Margaret I cant think of too many other names it could be short for...Mackenzie maybe? I dunno. And as for Auden it looks very masculine in spelling. Maybe you would consider Audyn. I think it's a cute name for a girl :)
