Pruning Grapes - Now or later?

I have no idea where you are, but I understand your not wanting to be out in too cold weather. You prune in or near freeze as acitivity (growth) is becoming stagnant/dormant. The vines come out to recover from winter...and pruning. I would say you probably would be OK to prune in times of 40-50 degree lows...not too much sooner though.

I'm near Napa in Ca. so we won't prune until much later gator.

If you prune before the grapes have gone completely dormant, they could try to start new growth then when freezing weather comes along it will kill the new growth and some of the old vines as well. This could result in stunted growth on the vines next spring. It is up to you, it is your vines so prune when the weather is nice if you want, just do not expect your vines to be in the best shape next year. Nobody has ever said that growing grapes is easy, most of us want good healthy vines, so a little work out in the cold is not a bad thing.

You should prune your grapes in late winter when vines are dormant. Otherwise you will damage

your vines.

You know obviously its not so easy for me to just "leave him" or "move out" i have nowhere to go, so its not like I" REAlly??" dont know what to do, im just trying to find a way to fix whats wrong with us and get back ti where it used to be. unless u have a better idea of where i should go, u can help lol
