Since Benjamin Franklin had doubts about the US Constitution but signed it anyway?
does that make it less like a sacred text and more like a bit of political compromise that was needed at the time? It seems he explicitly acknowledged the fallibility of both the original US Constitution and the drafters. Yet much of the more heated discussion on Yahoo Answers! Politics section regarding the US Constitution - more commonly, the Bill of Rights and the earlier Amendments - seem to include arguments about the intentions of the drafters being honoured.
In that mindset, was Franklin wrong to believe he was fallible?
In Kathryn Schulz's book "Being wrong", she quotes Franklin as saying that "I confess that there are several parts of this Constitution which I do not at present approve, but I am not sure I shall never approve them. For having lived long, I have experienced many instances of being obliged by better information, or fuller consideration, to change opinions even on important subjects, which I once thought right, but found to be otherwise", which I have also found on http://quotationsbook.com/quote/45167/ and commented on at http://www.newyorker.com/arts/critics/atlarge/2011...

The brilliance of the founding fathers and of the constitution is that they realized that they were fallible and made sure to create a document that was not set in stone. They understood (better than some of us seem to today) that times would change and the constitution needed to be flexible enough to change as well. The document is sacred but that doesn't necessarily mean perfect and unchanging.

Many medical reviews have verified there's not anything genetically hooked up to being homosexual. There are not any such genes. You weren't born homosexual. The reviews additional concluded the being homosexual is a found out trait. It will also be found out at even an early age. Being homosexual appears to be the craze, popping out of the closet, being permitted by way of a organization of humans and drawing awareness. The Bible could be very targeted approximately homosexuality, immoral sexually conduct. Sodom & Gomorrah is a well illustration. If humans do not straighten out truly speedy it'll occur once more. As a Presbyterian Christian, due to the fact that we're made in God's photograph I love you as a brother however I don't like your culture. As born once more Christians we develop extra spiritually on a daily basis, emerge as extra Christ like. Saying you're a born once more does not reduce it, exhibit the arena via your movements that you're like Christ. No extra homosexual stuff is a well begin.

I don't necessarily consider it "sacred" anyway. It is the greatest document every crafted by man to govern himself but calling it sacred is going a bit far. His consideration doesn't diminish it at all. many had concerns over various part such as including a Bill of Rights as it might appear that our rights were limited only to those included.

Of course he was right to admit he wasn't perfect. None of us are perfect. The humility he displayed on that occasion is a much-needed and admirable trait. Just like the ability to compromise is.

Too bad he didn't have Tea Party roots - he could have prevented the whole thing by refusing to compromise.
