Why am I receiving so much spam with the new and improved yahoo mail?

I only use my yahoo mail for things like this or to keep in touch with various private organizations with which I am affiliated. Its not my main email account and I don't use it for internet shopping or other correspondence. As a result, I rarely get anything in the way of spam.

My husband, on the other hand, uses his yahoo mail as secondary email and correspondence, fantasy football, etc., and he gets a lot of spam.

This is an old post, however, I have recently upgraded to the new yahoo as well and am finding more Spam than ever before as well. The irritating part is that some of the names of the Spam senders are actual Yahoo contacts (mind you, I hover the mouse over the address and the name may be similar but not the extension so I know it did not come from my real friends). It's disconcerting to say the least. I have even 'blocked' the address, yet it still appears. I hope something is done about this dilemma.

You can click on the spam button when you are inside of Yahoo mail. This seems to cut down quite considerably. I don't know if you've already done this. It will throw them into the "bulk mail" folder which does not count towards your storage limit. Check the bulk mail to make sure emails you want aren't going in there. If they are, click on the "not spam" button on the top. Yahoo addresses are notorious for spam because they are easier for those hackers to figure out. When will they learn they gain nothing by spamming people, hey? Good luck!

Same here, Daisy. Most all of mine are going into spam, but there are a few which get into my inbox. I've marked those as spam and hope they go there when sent to me again.

BQ: Loans available to me, make-up products, male enhancement products, anti-wrinkle products and many more! Frustration is the main thing I receive when I look into my inbox with these kind of messages.

Spam use to be auto deleted, they had a box you could check.

The new mail does not offer that and I get a bunch of crap

I have it sent directly to the spam folder, but with the improved it takes 7 days to empty. I never open any of it also any email from people I don't know gets marked spam.

Someone on the Cote d'Ivoire or Lagos

wanting me to help them with their missing

millions, and others asking me for my bank

details. They are all binned.

But Yahoo finds me more ads even when

I notify them as Spam.

Crazy!!!

Since I've had Google chrome there is a regular stream of spam for gambling and viagra,neither of which interests me .The only reason I look before I delete is occasionally I find real mail .

Most of my spam is automatically directed into my spam file; I merely empty it every few days or so. The bulk I receive is normally correlated to things going on: the Conventions, holidays, etc.

Once, I entered the Clearinghose Sweepstakes online and my spam volume tripled overnight. When I was able to contact them (phone and email) some with whom I spoke admitted they sell their lists, while others vehemently denied any connection. Hmmmm..

I never got any spam at all until we went camping at a place where they had free wifi, then all of a sudden I started getting all kinds of sh*t from dating services. I send it all to spam and now I don't get it any more. My other account that I rarely use is full of it, though.
