How can Jesus be the Father?

The bible clearly states that there is ONE God and Father of everyone.

1 Corinthians 8:6 "..there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came.."

Hebrews 1:1-2 Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. 2 And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.

And yet...

Hebrews 2:11 "So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father..."

If Jesus HAS a Father (GOD) how can he BE his Father?

Update:

Hebrews 1:1-2 Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. 2 And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.

The Father (GOD) used the Son to create the universe and Jesus was told what to do.

Jesus was distinct from God. Not just distinct from the Father but from being God at all. This is why we can see references to the God of Jesus Christ (Matt. 27:46; John 20:17; Eph. 1:17). This is obviously not the God of God. It is the God of a man. Jesus is called a man over and over (Acts 2:22; 13:38; I Tim 2:5). As a man, there were things He did not know (Mark 13:32), there were things He could not do (Mark 6:5), He could only be in one place at one time (John 16:7), He could be tempted (Heb 4:15), He could thirst (John 19:28), and He could die (John 19:33). So from this point of view He was distinct from God, and could be spoken of that way. But from another point of view He was fully God and could be called such (John 20:28; I Tim 3:16; I John 5:20). When we see a separate reference it is always something like: "God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ." What you never see is: "God the Father and God the Son." It is always God and man, Spirit and flesh, God the Father and the Son of God. As I Timothy 2:5 puts it, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."

In Matthew 28:19, Jesus commanded the disciples to baptize "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." Yet they routinely baptized only in Jesus' name. Either they were mistaken, or they understood the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost to be Jesus. Surely the apostles didn't disobey their Lord !

I could give many scriptures to show that Jesus is indeed God, but here are a few more that show that he is specifically the Father (who is the only God, Mal 2:10; I Cor 8:6).

    1. Jesus said that He would send the comforter to us (John 16:7), but He also said the Father would send the comforter (John 14:26).

    2. The Father alone can draw men to God (John 6:44), yet Jesus said He would draw all men (John 12:32).

    3. Jesus will raise up all believers in the last day (John 6:40), yet God the Father quickens (gives life to) the dead and will raise us up (Romans 4:17; I Corinthians 6:14).

    4. Christ is our sanctifier (Ephesians 5:26), yet the Father sanctifies us (Jude 1).

We can easily understand all of this if we realize that Jesus has a dual nature. He is both Spirit and flesh, God and man, Father and Son.

    Matt. 28:18-20

Vs. 18 Jesus had all power in Heaven and Earth. If there were two other persons there, they had no power.

Vs. 19 " Go ye therefore and teach all nations, Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."

Vs. 20 "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have Commanded you."

Observe this please He did not say to baptize them using the words " Father, Son and Holy Ghost." We know that the name of the Son is " Jesus", and that He came in His Father's name. (St. John 5:43).

If the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are not three persons, who then are they?

Isaiah 9:6 Isaiah answers this very clearly. The Son (Jesus) shall be called " Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace."

    Counselor -- Comforter

St. John 14:26 -- In the New International Version and the Amplified Version, plus others, the word "Counselor" is used for "Comforter". All know that the Comforter is the Holy Ghost, or the Spirit of the departed Christ. (St. John 14:16-18)

    The Mighty God

Isaiah called Him the Mighty God. Rev. 1:8, Jesus calls Himself the Almighty God. In Rev. 4:8 and Rev. 11:17, they worship Him and called Him the Lord God Almighty.

    The Everlasting Father

While on the earth, Jesus had a dual nature. He was both man and God. In the Spirit, He was the Creator of all things. (St John 1:3 and Col. 1:16-17)

Isaiah 44:24 records that God created all things alone and by Himself. These Scriptures prove that Jesus was both God of the Old and New Testament alike. The name of the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost must be the Lord Jesus.

Because Jesus had a dual nature. From the physical perspective, he was human, the son of God and Mary. As a man, he got hungry, thirsty, tired, scared, etc. He had limited knowledge and needed to pray. He suffered and died.

But scripture tells us that God was also living in the body of Jesus. (2 Cor. 5:19; 1 Tim. 3:16) God is one Spirit (John 4:24; Eph. 4:4) who caused Mary to conceive (Mt. 1:18-20). Since the same one Spirit who was the Father of Jesus inhabited the body of Jesus, Jesus is the Father in flesh.

Is. 9:6 tells us that the Messiah, the Son, would be called both Mighty God and Everlasting Father. Jesus told us plainly that we have only one Father, that is, God. So if Jesus isn't the Father in flesh, then Isaiah was wrong! But Jesus confirmed the words of Isaiah when Philip asked to see the Father. Jesus told Him that by seeing Him, they had indeed already seen the Father. (John 14:8-9)

All the fullness of the Godhead (that is, the fullness of that one Spirit who is God) dwells bodily in Jesus. (Col. 2:9)

Father, Son and Holy Spirit are not separate persons, but simply titles referring to the same one Spirit who took on flesh. The apostles understood this, so when Jesus told them to baptize all nations in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, they didn't simply repeat those three titles as most do today. Rather, they used the NAME of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. And that name is Jesus. All first century Christian baptism was performed using only the name of Jesus. (Acts chapters 2, 8, 10, 19, 22) They never once baptized using the three titles. Titles cannot save us; the name of Jesus can. (Acts 4:12)

So in his flesh, Jesus is the son of God, a man. But He is also the same one God, the Father, in human flesh. As God, He forgave sins, called Himself the I AM and said that He predated Abraham. (John 8:58)

Jesus is the Father "incarnate" - in flesh!

Whereas God, in the Old Testament, had been revealed through His spoken and written Word, God, in the New Testament, is revealed in flesh. Hebrews 1:1 says that He "spake in times past unto the fathers by the prophets" but verse 2 says that "in these last days He hath spoken unto us by His Son" and verse 3 tells us that the Son is "the brightness of His glory, and the express image of his person."

The Corinthian church was taught that Christ is "the image of God" (II Corinthian 4:4).

The Colossian church was taught that the Son is "the image of the invisible God" (Colossians 1:15).

"It pleased the Father that in him (the Son) should all (the Father's) fullness dwell" (Colossians 1:19). That is why John said "the Word was made flesh."

Jesus Christ is Jehovah Savior come in the flesh. In fact, the very meaning of the name "Jesus" is "Jehovah Savior."

Jesus explained, "I am come in my Father's name" (John 5:43).

Jesus is not a clone of God the Father.

He is not a duplicate deity.

    He is not Jehovah, Jr..

He is not co-equal and co-eternal with the Father.

He IS the Father (the eternal Spirit) manifest in the Son (the man)!

Jesus, as a man, insisted that He was NOT equal with the Father when he said, "My Father is greater than I" in I John 14:28.

That confirms the Father's oath in Isaiah 42:8b, "My Glory will I not give to another."

Jesus Christ is not the second member of the Godhead.

He is the man in whom the Father dwelt. This is what the oneness of God refers to. The Spirit (Father) in the Body (Christ).

God the Father never invented or created a God the Son.

The Son of God was "made of a woman," (Galatians 4:4), and was "conceived...of the Holy Ghost" (Matthew 1:20).

That shows the Holy Ghost is actually the Father, since John said the Son of Man is the "only begotten of the Father" (John 1:14).

The human body of Jesus was not only conceived by his Holy Spirit Father, but was a visible shell which actually housed the Father. If God is a Trinity of three persons, and if Jesus is the fullness of God bodily, then there are three persons in the body of Jesus. But we know that is not the case. God is not three persons. He is ONE SPIRIT and that Spirit is the Father, and the FATHER is incarnate in the body of Jesus. The fullness of God is the Father. And HE is in the body of Jesus.

"God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself"(2 Corinthians 5:19). He was the fullness of God bodily. The Son is in perfect oneness with the Father by virtue of the incarnation. If you have seen Jesus, you have seen the Father. Otherwise, the Father is invisible. But in the flesh, you can see Him.

    GOD BLESS!

God (the Father) is Spirit. He remains Spirit.

He created the world ALONE .. Isaiah 44:24 states:~

"I am the LORD, who makes all things, who stretches

out the heavens all alone; who spreads abroad the earth

by myself." --> "ALONE" .. "BY MYSELF" <--

Yes "Jesus" created the world, but at the time His name

was not Jesus, but "YHWH" God (Father) who entered our

physical world by joining Himself with humanity in Jesus...

He entered our world incarnate as the man Jesus Christ.

To accomplish that, God provided the "XY" male part of

the conception in Mary's womb ... (probably created it)

When Jesus Christ was in the world He was FLESH, a

human being, in whom the Spirit of God dwelled ... and

God remained Spirit at all times, holy and omnipresent.

That Spirit (God) ~ is the Father of Jesus Christ (the man)

who was therefore both deity and humanity in one being...

Both "Son of God" and "Son of Man" in one.

There was no "Son" before Jesus was conceived... but

all things were made by God with the PLAN (Logos) of

the future Son, Jesus, in His mind, His intent. The "Logos"

(translated "word") became flesh and dwelled among us.

When God spoke via the prophet Nathan to tell the young

King David about the Saviour .. Jesus was a FUTURE plan

in which the Messiah would be a DESCENDANT of David.

    READ IT:~ 2 Samuel 7:12-17

    Jesus had a beginning .. "born of a woman":~

"You are my Son, today I have begotten you" .. (Psalm 2:7)

"When the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His

Son, born of a woman, born under the law." .. (Galatians 4:4)

"For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come

into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth..."

    (John 18:37) . . .

    see: 1 Timothy 3:16 .. 2 Corinthians 5:19 .. Colossians 2:9

    John 14:9 .. 14:10 .. 12:45 .. 10:30 .. 8:58 .. 8:24 .. 20:28

The nature of God is a puzzle humans have been struggling with for many years and will possibly never completely solve. Here is how I see it:

Christianity originated at a time the Greko-Roman gods were very popular. These gods also have different names: Zeus/Jove, Athena/Minerva, Heracles/Hercules etc. Zeus and Jove are considered the same god, despite the two names and different personalities attributed to them. The reason for this is that Zeus and Jove are what is called aspects of the same god. They are the same being and each name given describes a different part of them.

Each part of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) are aspects of the same God. The Father is the aspect attributed with leadership and creation, The Son (Jesus) is the aspect attributed as the savior and friend, and the Holy Spirit is the aspect attributed with being our omnipresent concelor.

    I hope this helped :)

I believe the Son, Holy Spirit, and the Father are all directly connected but not the same exact being.

Just like when 2 people marry they become one flesh. A proverb from the Bible. This doesn't mean they are melded together to become one being interwoven.

Jesus is/was the Word of God and was an eternal being with God:

    1 John 1

    New International Version (NIV)

The Incarnation of the Word of Life

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our[a] joy complete.

He is one with the Father which makes him appear as the Father. When he was on earth he had gifts of healing and all spiritual gifts without measure. He said, "If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father." He meant spiritually speaking, not in essence. In John 10:30 he said, "The Father and I are one."

The Father, Son and Holy Spirit created all things together.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God [is] one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

    Deuteronomy 6:5-9

The disciples already confessed that Jesus was SON:

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

    Matthew 16:16

Jesus taught them that He was the FATHER INCARNATE:

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
