What was the significance of the Gaspee Affair?

My APUSH teacher wants us to include it on our project, but I can't find it in the book and I have no idea what it's about or how it affects the American Revolution.

The burning of the "Gaspee" sparked the fire to start the American Revolution. The Gaspee was a British trade ship. Many Rhode Island citizens avoided the trade laws by smuggling goods ashore and smuggled them out. The Gaspee was burned, and its commander was shot and the crew was captured. When an inquiry was held, it provided no accountable eye witness accounts. It had appeared, as if, all witnesses had suddenly developed anesthesia since no one would cooperate with the British commission for fear of being sent back to England and being tried there. The Gaspee Affair was instrumental in strengthening the already growing unification movement within the colonies.
