Why am i getting toned as im bulking?

I am 20 , male 5'10 and 168 pound's, I've been bulking for the past six month's going to to the gym 5 day's a week eating 3000 calorie's a day of healthy protein filled food's and i've noticed the weirdest thing is happening, I have gained 23 pound's because i was at 145 when i started lifting again. But i'm also ten time's more toned, I'm not complaining at all of course toned is good, But aren't you supposed to get toned after you do your cut? and lose tone when your bulking? I'm just wondering when i start my cut after i hit 205 pound's am i gonna be ripped as hell cause im still toning as im gaining weight? lol

it could be your not eating enough calories

or your not lifting heavy enough

you want to perform 4-6 reps

    6-8 reps

    an go heavy

also you need 20x your body weight from calories

1 gram of protein each pound u weigh

everybody has different body types... your more prone to being ripped

When bulking, the average person can only put 1-3lbs of pure muscle on their body per month. Since you gained 23lbs in 4 months you've gained about 4lbs per month (rounding). You aren't putting on that much fat which is a good thing. So you are probably eating quite healthily and not putting on too much fat.

When it comes to bulking people just add too much fat so it appears that they are not toning up but in reality its just the extra fat blocking the increase in definition. So when people cut the remove the excess fat to reveal the already ripped muscles they got from bulking.

However you do gain much more definition when increasing the amount of reps in your sets. Example: instead of 6-8 reps for mass gain, you switch it up to 12-15reps for definition)

You're toning because you had very little fat on you before you started bulking I'm guessing.
