Deadly week in da Philippines... two Foreigners murdered.?
Open season on Foreigners in Philippines?
A week ago a Canadian brutally murdered by hit man setup by his Filipina wife.
Yesterday an American shopping at 7-11 murdered in cold blood as he was attempting to flee a robbery he was shot 5 times the last shot execution style.
Good points Deliverance, thank you sir. I've planned to visit in October but am having second thoughts.
This question was not intended as a troll, there is much too much of that here already.
It seems murder has become more common in Philippines lately and to read of two Foreigners killed in less than ten days is hard to comprehend.
Many major city's in my country have murders every day (drug related) up to now I always thought Philippines safe to visit. In all my trips to Philippines I have never had a problem with theft or felt unsafe.

I PERSONALLY DO NOT THINK SO.
All the events are mere coincidental and has no pattern whatsoever that they target foreigners for that matter. If that is the case, then Chinese and the Koreans should also be included in the news.
The case of the Canadian was purely for money I supposed. Murder for insurance purposes is widely known even in the US, so it is not practically confined in the Philippines. The case of the American shopping at 7/11 was a case of an accident, he panic and run out of the grocery store and naturally the robbers would bring him down thinking he is about to call the authorities. Anybody who flee out of a trouble place is already signing his or her own death penalty, because the people commandering the place will shot anyone who move or make a sound. This is common sense, and I do not see a pattern of eliminating foreigners in the Philippines for that matter. You do not connect dots without full investigation of the case, if you happen to be a law enforcers or a detective. I heard this in one of the movie, I just forgot the title: "presumption is the mother of all f-u-c-k ups".
If all the foreigners are place in one warehouse, for example all the Europeans and Americans in the Philippines and they were all shot to death, now that is murder of foreigners. But it never happen yet.
edit---
thank you my friend who is formerly ATM and now big deal. of course i remember people here, my memory is still working fine I suppose. you are one of the good people here, although i can see people like you are few compared 2 years ago. hoping i can meet you one day if can go home too this year, i like to meet people esp. here at the philippines room whether they are myth or not. no im not a serial killer and after our conversation you can still go home with your family in one piece. joke. do not be scared, although i am also scared myself going back to the philippines. Philippines is not anymore the same 5 or 10 years ago. crimes are almost everywhere. just be vigilant and also think before you act.

I kinda found it personal. For one were here boosting your economy, taking our hard earned cash and spending it here. We foreigners get hustled on a daily basis of getting the price jacked up or the taxi drivers tacking advantage or even the beggars that always ask for money. 3 this country needs to wake the f u c k and protect the people living in it Native and Foreign, Oh and to the first comment please shut up, you have no appreciation for what my country does for this country but we never get the same treatment back and your ignorance just shows all the more reason why we should stop.
Source(s): BTW any foreigners that read this post i suggest you get your self a gun license and a gun, protect yourself from people like this. - TootoyLv 79 years ago
Compare that to a recent murder here: 12 dead and 58 injured.
Gangs against gangs killing or maiming each other nearly every day.
A husband dumping his murdered wife into the ocean.
The murders you mentioned could have happened in any country:
- murder for money
- accidental murder.

I agree that the crime rate seems to be on the rise in the philippines but its still much safer for foreigners than most of their home countries,In the u.s. murder/killing/.shootings are so common place anything less than a massacre aren't usually even reported in the news,I expect the drug trade is mostly responsible [worldwide]
