I'll be spending about two weeks in DR. at Bayahibe for SCUBA diving and relaxing.

Is there a small town near Bayahibe with quiet comfortable lodging? I'm looking for a place I can walk around in the evening and just relax. Want to learn more about the local culture and food. I only speak very basic Spanish.

During a week long SCUBA trip to DR in the the Jaragua National Park area I would like to take an over night visit to Jacmel Haiti. Is this practical and safe? My friend is going to marry a nice Dominican woman in Dominican Republic soon. I will accompany him in the ceremony and take a vacation there for a week or two. His fiancée wants to introduce me to some of her single lady friends. All the ladies are single over 30 most have a child and are good people. I would be open to meeting someone, is there anything I should know of specific to Dominican women?

I speak very little Spanish and hope to interact with local Dominican's outside major towns. I like to SCUBA dive and hike. I just want to get out of the city's into the countryside will I be able to communicate with locals?
