How are scenes on an airplane filmed?
It's for a novel I'm currently writing. I'm guessing that some scenes are filmed in a studio with a green screen attached, and the interior of an airplane filmed, but in my piece, the actor character is on an actual flight to Toronto (the filming location for NYC scenes) to Miami, where the majority of the movie is set.) If it would be realistic to shoot on an actual aircraft, how would it be set up? Would be safe to film while the "fasten seatbelt" sign is on, or would they have to wait until it shuts off. The acting scenes will be in screenplay format, but I want to see if this would be realistic in this case. Thanks.

It's best to do it how it's usually done: Mock-Ups.
Mock-ups, are a kind of cabin scenarios used to train flight attendants and are also used to shoot airplane movie scenes.
You can add the sound and realism features at your wish.
Good luck

Heres what I think you should do. Get an airplane and film on the GROUND. You could always put green screen on the windows and edit it later. It would be easier on the ground because you have all your equipment, its safer, and more cost efficient.

They use an airplane set that is like legos you can add and remove parts to get different shots, it's impossible to use a real airplane unless a handheld camcorder is used
