In 2000 the GOP chose Bush over McCain. How could they expect McCain to win in 2008 if he was second choice to the man every one wanted shut of. Including his own Party in 2012. GOP you brought it on your selves.

Bad choices go in both parties. Hillary might have won in 2004 but didn't have the guts. Edwards should have been the Candidate but DNC chose the Swiftboater.

one thing the repugs did quite effectively was to batter and beat up McCain so badly that he looked unelectable.

Yes, the Bush team savaged McCain in 2000 - shame on them. But, McCain has no one but himself for '08. Palin was a absolute disaster. All McCain had to do was run to the center after selecting a normal running mate. Failed.
