Does anyone know why a 100 lb pressure release valve on a pressure tank would go off at 50?

This is a Q21V Quick Tank residential pressure tank and supposedly a drain-back system without a bladder. There is a valve stem at the bottom of the tank.

Update:

josephro: are you saying to replace the valve or the tank?

Either the gauge or the relief valve is faulty.

If the release valve failed it may release unexpectedly at 50#.

dunk it in chocolate and wait for it to harden. then peel the wrapping off at a later date.
