CDL and Military Liscence?

I have a military drivers liscence that states I can drive tractor trailer trucks, also 4k, 6k, 10k, 10k AT, NGSL, 3T Mercedez Benz, 5T Duece 1/2, and other large vehicles. Because of my liscence stating I am qualified to drive a rig, would I just be able to test at a CDL station and not have to sit through the 3 week class to get it.

depends on the state and weather your tester wants to be an a** that day. full class A you'll need a truck with a 5th wheel and air brakes, and a trailer with air brakes. Also the tractor better be a manual or you'll have a restriction on there that states you cant drive a manual you can only drive autos and that makes you virtually useless. Long as it meets the classification of your state for a Class A cdl they should accept it. But hell you don't have to go to class to get your cdl anyway. You can rent a ryder/penske truck or trailer with a straight 10 and a 53 and test on that and it's like $300 for a day plus miles if I remember right. Gotta have a fully licenced CDL driver with you though when you pick up the tractor and trailer though and you've got to have your permit before they'll test you in most states.

Nobody HAS to go through school to get a CDL, it's just the preferred way. The Troops to trucks program allows you to get a CDL with only the knowledge tests.
