Would a pediatrician know anything about mental illnesses?

I think I may have social anxiety, but I don't know about any psychiatrists or therapists or anything similar.Would my pediatrician have any knowledge about that or possibly know about someone who can help me with this?

Update:

Ok,I probably have social anxiety.I did 3 tests online to see if I had it.2 said I had it.The third was more specific, saying it was very severe.

You should see a psychiatrist. Look in the yellow pages in the phone book

normal doctors aren't normally the people who diagnose mental health issues, but you should see them first for a referral. most insurances require them before paying for treatment with a specialist and a psychiatric help would be considered a specialty.
