It is Iusacel and they use SIM cards. I am very surprised that they are the only service provider. You will need a miniumum 2G or I think idealy 3 G Iusacel networks operate on frequencies of 900 MHZ--1800 MHZ
Where is it that you can`t get TELMEX?
Iusacel should have a cheaper phone as you know Roaming is 5 times the cost. What is the closest town to where you are going?
