Exponential Equation with e?

The average time between incoming calls at a

switchboard is 5.3 minutes. The probability of

waiting less than t minutes for next incoming

call is approximated by the model

F(t) = 1 − e^(-t/5.3)

If a call has just come in, find the probability

that the next call will come within

a) 0.49 minutes

b) 1.96 minutes

Ok, so am I just supposed to plug in 0.49 and 1.96 for t in the equation and solve for F(t)?

Yes, simply substitute .49 and 1.96 for t in the equation ...

    a) 0.49 minutes: p = 0.0883

    b) 1.96 minutes: p = 0.3091

    hope that helped
