Why is sir john monash so significant?

Monash was the first Australian (rather than British) commander of the Australian Corps.He also pioneered attacks using combined arms tactics - infantry,tanks,artillery,airpower - which brought greater success with less casualties than Haig's depressingly familiar 'big artillery bombardment so the enemy know where the attack is coming followed by a slow advance by masses of infantry' approach,which led to little success,less gains,and huge casualties.
