What do I need to do to help my blueberry bushes produce fruit?
I have 2 good sized blueberry bushes that made very little fruit this year (my first year in the house)
They get sun most of the day, get watered by the lawn sprinklers 3 times a week and are in good oregon topsoil. Do I need to firtilize? what kind and when?

Blueberries are picky about the soil. I use a combination of:
•1/3 Pathway bark (1/4 inch)
•1/3 Peat Moss (coarse, if you can find it)
•1/3 Leaf Mold or Forest Humus based potting soil.
•Mix together and add 2 tablespoons of Soil Sulfur
This is recommended by Dave Wilson Nursery-who is highly reputable - and my results have been amazing. I usually put a handful of azalea food on each of my eight plants every couple of months and dump leftover, cold black coffee on them every couple days because they are acid loving.

They may need a good trimming back to get the dead / over grown limbs gone. This will not help you for the next season as they need a chance to re-grow, but the year after....watch out! Also, bone-meal is used for bushes like this as good fertilizer. You-tube a good video of how to trim blueberry bushes, tho. There is a right way and a WRONG way to do it. It's not just as simple as clipping the limbs off with pruning shears.
