I was at home. The phone woke me. It was my 20 year old son telling me he was on his way to NYC as part of the Army rescue and clean-up. An hour later while watching the TV news coverage of that horrible day, I also learned my cousin who was a flight attendant died in the second plane to hit the towers. My son was injured that day as well and it ended his dream of an Army career. He's never fully recovered. None of us who clearly remember that day ever will.

I was a teacher in a classroom of preschool - kindergarten kids. My husband and the parents of the kids I was teaching started calling the school (we did not have a television) and some parents came to get their kids. Mine were at their school and we were very glad to be home together that evening. I remember the shock at what I was hearing and when I saw it on the news later. Our kids were young so we told them very little until they got older.

In the worst History class I've ever had. The teacher literally bored you to death while telling you what needed to be remembered for the course, instead of writing most of it on the board. Gosh. That day though, we were just sitting in class and they turned the TV on and we were all stunned. I was 7 in 11th grade.

I was late for an appointment when the towers were hit by two planes on the TV. I Told the assistant I had been watching it, and why I was late and she hadn't heard anything about the two towers and stayed mad at me!
