How the hell is Tom Brady not considered a top 5 NFL QB?

Just saw a thread on NFL (dot) com.

Update:

It was Qbs now.

I've never seen a top 3 QB list without Brady's name let alone a top 5 (assuming we're talking about active players)

I would explain to those people why Tom Brady is currently a top 5 QB in the NFL today, but considering the topic of that thread, they probably don't know much about football anyway.

Wow, BRONCOSF....you went from basically saying Brady is extremely overrated as his coaches and supporting cast made him who he is along with a dink and dunk pass attack to then saying you still say he is a top 5 QB. I think you need to make up your mind.

He is a top 5 in a league where there is very little room between those top 5. And to say titles mean nothing....I do have Eli Manning towards the top of the QB hierarchy and he has won 2 super bowls because "his supporting cast" has made two of the most incredible super bowl catches in history. if it wasn't for those two catches Brady would be 5-0 in super bowls. But, I don't want to take credit away from Eli as he has 2 rings now and regardless of whether his teammates made incredible plays he had to get them in position to make those plays just like Brady has done over the years. He makes very few mistakes, avoids the rush very well, doesn't turn it over...etc.

The NFL hasn't seen talent at QB like this for over 20 years when there was Marino, Kelly, Moon, Esiason, Simms, Elway......

He's a top 3 in the league right now with Brees and Rogers and a few others close behind.

Whoever created the thread was an idiot. Tom Brady is EASILY in the top 3. In my personal opinion (Panthers fan here) he's number one at the moment and actually top 5 all time. He is amazing at looking off defenders, pump faking, vision, and footwork. He makes few mistakes. I think the QBs at the moment are Tom Brady>Peyton Manning>Aaron Rodgers then after that it blurs a bit and can change season to season.

Super Bowl wins are overrated- look at Terry Bradshaw. Tom Brady is top 5 in today's NFL, top 10 all-time. It is difficult to judge because the league today is much more pass-oriented so of course their stats will be better than guys who played 3-4 decades ago. However, he is certainly in an elite class with Rodgers and Brees in today;s game

He's not top 5 in fantasy points at the moment. Is that what the thread you saw was referring to?

I wouldn't consider him a top 5 QB of all time.

The biggest stat people say for Brady is that he's won 3 SBs. So what? Number of SB wins is like the wins stat for pitchers in baseball. It doesn't really matter. And you can still get one no matter how good or bad you are. He's had a great supporting cast and a great coaching staff and a great offensive scheme. He made his living and padded his stats outrageously on the dink-n-dunk pass "attack."

But, I'd still consider him a top 5 QB of ACTIVE QBs.

He's not as accurate as Brees, he's not as smart as Peyton, he doesn't have the arm strength of Big Ben or Cutler, but he does possess pretty good talent in all those areas - he's just a well rounded QB.

  • I dont know what kind of thread this was.

But anyone in their right mind would have him as a top THREE QB right now.

    He is Top 3

He is arguably the best QB in the league right now.

Don't listen to so called "experts" on ESPN and NFL.com. They just like hearing themselves talk.
