When the Egyptian embassy was stormed, the protesters were carrying signs with the name of the #2 leader of Al Qaeda who was believed to have been killed in a drone attack a couple of months earlier. That was the first confirmation that he was actually dead.

The movie that offended Islam was actually played on a television network in that area of the world just to rile up the radicals. It was very intentional. There was also a video that called for uprisings due to the death of the man killed in the drone attack and 9-11 was the specified or assumed date for this to occur. Osama Bin Laden was killed on May 2, 2011. One would have to wonder why this didn't happen last year if it was due to Bin Laden's death but I'm sure they do find statements like those in the video to be very offensive.

Does it really matter? Radical muslims have shown time and again that they will use any excuse to engage in violent activity. Therefore pick whatever makes you more comfortable because it really doesn't matter which one you pick, the results are still the same and the activity by the radicals is still misguided and wrong.
