Do our soldiers wash their own clothes in boot camp?

My husband was in the British Army and said they had to wash their own clothes...that was 20 years ago, but I am just curious since my son's in boot camp.

Oh yeah they have to look after themselves. the only thing they don't do is cook for themselves (unless they are in the field)

  • Yes. I remember the instruction quite clearly:

'Here are the washing machines, you will not use them. Here are the basins, you will use these to wash your clothes until I tell you otherwise.'

You have to earn your right to use the washing machine! Well, might have changed since I was last there, but its all the same.

Yes, it is part of the system to make soldiers become organised and look after their own kit and uniform.

In the US the military hires contractors to wash the soldiers cloths.
