What is the illuminati?

An organization of intellectuals from the late 1700s. It was based in Bavaria and the members discussed matters of the era. They disbanded by the French Revolution but conspiracy theorists claim it still exists but it doesn't.

It's more who is the illuminati? They are a rumored organization of a group of very powerful, very important people from around the world, that pull the strings of the events of the world. It's rumored that 9/11 as well as other tragedies were just part of their plans for a bigger picture. Even subjects like Obama's election can be thought of as the illuminati playing a part. They're kind of like the free masons in the US. This is just speculation and you'd prob get better results off google. =)

Long story short it's a group of the elite who want to keep peoples eyes down in the dirt, so that they're too busy squabbling with each other to notice whats really going on. But then again, it doesn't take a secret organisation to do that, does it?
