I have an HP BT983 desktop PC, and I need to re-install its ...?

original system software. I am wondering if I can start that process from window's main screen, or do I need to be in F1 start up, or F8 system modifications mode? If I just put the CD in the hard drive, will it know what to do?

I've done this once before years ago, but I forget exactly how.

Best regards

To install a new OS, just put the disk in and press F8 while the computer turns on. You should see a list of option. Either its a boot menu, or an option to open the boot menu. Then just boot up as the CD.

F12 may also bring you to the boot menu, depending on your motherboard.
