Is a vote for Gary Johnson a vote for President Obama?

Not literally, but essentially?

Most people would agree that libertarians have far more in common with conservatives than liberals.

With that in mind, isn't Gary Johnson taking away votes from Mitt Romney?

Update:

BTW, I am fiscally Conservative and socially Libertarian.

Update 2:

A lot of Conservatives want to legalize marijuana too

yes. People who vote for Gary Johnson will try to give a ethical spin to it but it basically comes down to reality. Even if every Gary Johnson supporter voted for him, and then you throw in all the independants who suddenly decide to vote for G.J. he still wouldnt win. but you taken all those votes away from Romeny and given them to Obama. What will a second Obama term have gained you? Just more corrosion of the Constitution.

I think a vote for Gary Johnson is a vote for Gary Johnson. If anything a vote for Romney is a vote for Obama as he doesn't stand a chance.

Why do people think that a vote for Johnson is a vote away from Romney or Obama? Obama didn't have my vote in 2008 and definitely doesn't this year. Romney... seriously? He never had my vote either. If the Republican party offered a real option for President (like Ron Paul), then he could have had my vote. But they didn't and they have to live with the consequences of choosing an unelectable guy for the election.

Let Gary Johnson and Ron Paul run.

Anything the people on the right does is a boon for Obama's reelection.

The main parties have pulled off one of the greatest marketing feats of all time. They have actually convinced a majority of Americans that not voting for one of them is either throwing your vote away or voting for the other guy.

    That's pretty incredible.

A vote for Gary Johnson is a vote for Gary Johnson, not anything else.

No. It is a vote for ideals and the more people who vote for those ideals the more politicians and the media will have to pay attention to those ideals.

that's a pretty lame way of thinking.
