How to keep sugar dry?

Somehow, moisture keeps getting into my sugar jar and making it harden into clumps. Is there any reliable way to keep moisture out of it?

I've tried using crackers and rice in the jar in the past... It never turns out well.

Would it be a good idea to put one of those packets that often come in medicine, to keep moisture out?

I use the old Tupperware canisters for my sugar storage!! I also put a soda cracker in with the sugar in case the weather actually gets even the slightest bit damp!

We go boating quite often and have moisture get into salt and sugar a lot. We use a dry "Brown Sugar Bear" in the jar and it works really well. Below is what they look like!

Often I see people putting pieces of bread in them to absorb the moisture. Change it out often though, so it doesn't mold! But it does a good job.

Actually the bread tip is for keeping baked goods moist. You throw a piece of bread in with fresh baked cookies and they soft for days.

What I do is use a tea ball filled with rice. It's always worked for me.

just use a plastic container instead of a jar, and make sure that it has a top to it.
