the disabled council tax band reduction scheme is explained below. having a blue badge does not give you any automatic right to a reduction. If you think you are eligible for Council Tax reduction for disabled people, you should apply to your local council.
Disabled people are helped with their Council Tax through the disabled band reduction scheme. This makes sure disabled people don't pay more Council Tax because they needed a larger property due to their disability.
Having a disability does not automatically entitle you to a reduction.
In summary, the requirements for a reduction are the property must be the main residence of at least one disabled person. It must also have at least one of:
an additional bathroom or kitchen required to meet the needs of the disabled person
a room (other than a bathroom, kitchen or toilet) required to meet the needs of the disabled person, and used predominantly by them
extra space inside the property to allow for the use of a wheelchair - wheelchairs for outdoor use only are excluded
The room or the wheelchair must also be of major importance to the disabled person's well-being, due to the extent of their disability.
'Disabled person' in this context means a person who is substantially and permanently disabled. The disabled person can be either an adult or a child and does not have to be responsible for paying the Council Tax bill.
An extra room does not need to have been specially built. But your home will not qualify for a reduction unless the 'essential or of major importance' test above is met. For example, simply rearranging rooms is unlikely to make your home eligible for a reduction.

just to make things clear there has been no national register of disabled people in this country since 1995. it was abolished when the Disability Discrimination Act was brought in. you may still find on some application forms a box to tick if you are registered disabled. you need to explain the error to the organisation and ask what information they need to know.
they may want to know if you class yourself as having a disability, whether you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010, if you hold a blue badge or if you are in receipt of certain benefits; usually the middle or higher rate of the care component of DLA.
best wishes, A x

Only a subset of councils now keep a register of disabled people ("registered disabled"). I think the register started to disappear with the introduction of Disability Discrimination Act.
Basically, the blue parking badge "proves" that you have (usually) mobility problems that warrant you having more car parking options. Many people are disabled but don't qualify for a blue parking badge.
The council tax reduction, it appears to me, applies to people who need extra room or extra space in their home because they are disabled, for a carer for example.

Have you applied for Disability Living Allowance ? Having a blue badge does not mean you a registered disabled it just means you have mobility problems and need to be able to park suitably.
Once you get accepted for DLA then you are registered disabled, you have to renew the pack every year (they wont write to you, you have to do it off your own back) and after a few years you can get DLA for "an indefinite period".

No, it means you have the privilege of parking in the special spaces reserved for those with blue badges, whilst those without a blue badge must park elsewhere.

you received't discover everywhere to park for free all day. you may have 3 hours in some motor vehicle parks even if the nearest one to St James' Terrace costs. i'm also disabled and that i agree about the blue badge. I have a motobility motor vehicle and they might have that back to boot. possibly the motel has a motor vehicle parking lot. i assume you've already requested that even if.
