★ Should WWE resurrect Brawl for All and compete with MMA★?

Ever since the Muhammad/Antonio fight of the 70s,WWE has been getting involved with MMA fighters, even before Ultimate Fighting came to be.Long ago, there was even a WWF World Martial Arts Championship.Over the years, several legit fighters came to WWE like Haku,Ken Shamrock,Ludvig Borga,Dan Severn and Steve Blackman.Though Brock Lesnar may be the most recognizable to modern fans.

My idea is this:Bring back the name Brawl for All for this brand/show and feature MMA style competition. This program will also feature the return of the WWE World Martial Arts Championship. This will draw MMA fans away from Ultimate Fighting and increase WWE ratings.Remember,Vince himself has said that WWE is not wrestling, but ALL forms of entertainment. There's nothing that WWE can't do or get involved in.Of course, the original concept of Brawl for All must be changed,at least the "rules" that were hard to understand back in the 90s.

BQ:Which fighters, old and new, would you like to see as World Martial Arts Champion in WWE?

I don't think the WWE could create an "MMA" type of brand and have it taken seriously. The WWE is too well-known for their campy overblown melodrama and over-the-top characters. Vince's forays into professional bodybuilding and professional football didn't turn out well by combining serious sports competition and WWE "entertainment". If the WWE were to create a weekly MMA type of TV show it would be perceived at the same level as WWE "sports entertainment", i.e. "scripted". What separates MMA type of combat from professional wrestling is MMA is supposedly "not fake or scripted but real fights". I'm not completely convinced that MMA is NOT "scripted" but to MMA fans it's not and therefore is infinitely better than that "fake rasslin" stuff.

But that doesn't mean the WWE couldn't promote periodic MMA PPVs, say 3 or 4 a year. Without the weekly 2-hour shows full of melodrama and campy skits this type of PPV probably would be taken seriously, especially if the WWE puts up enough money as prizes. They could do a couple of 15-30 minute segments on RAW leading up to the PPV to showcase the fighters involved, let them speak for a minute, and just give a general feel for what the PPV will be, while also letting the fans know that this show is different from the normal WWE PPVs.

These PPVs should be open, meaning any MMA fighter and any pro wrestler can sign up for the competition. They would be contested under MMA rules, meaning the pro wrestlers could use any of their pro wrestling moves in the ring/octagon/whatever, and the MMA fighters would bring their own styles to the show. There should be a carefully-worded disclaimer before the show stating that this is MMA, not pro wrestling, even though pro wrestlers are involved. They can't say "this sh*t is real, not fake" or it makes the WWE and it's performers look bad. They just need to let the fans know that it's not pro wrestling and is contested under different rules.

I think there would be quite a few MMA fighters looking to show up the pro wrestlers and I think there would be quite a few pro wrestlers (not just in the WWE) looking to prove that they are just as tough, with just as much fighting skills as the MMA pros. I don't think there would be any shortage of fighters (from both sides). And with each side trying to outdo the other, I think there could be some interesting and intense matches.

If the interest is there (from the fans and PPV buyrates) the WWE could either bring back their World Martial Arts Championship or establish a new championship. I don't think this will draw MMA fans away from UFC but it might get them to watch both and it just might get them to open their eyes a bit and stop sneering at pro wrestling.

BQ: I don't follow MMA enough to know the players but there are some pro wrestlers I'd like to see get involved in this. Sheamus, Punk, Bryan, Barrett, Alberto Del Rio, Samoa Joe, Angle, Austin Aries, Gunner, to name several. The door is open so let's see some badasses from Japanese promotions and anybody else who thinks they have what it takes to succeed in this.

The Brawl for it it all was an interesting concept when they first tried it but if you recall no main eventers and even very few mid-card guys were in it. WWE had to protect the image of the top guys. Could you imagine if Bart Gunn had knocked out Stone Cold? Would not have been pretty. It would be like if Santino took down CM Punk or John Cena which in an event like that is entirely possible. Then you also have to remember a fiasco it was when Bart faced Butterbean. Butterbean quickly knocked him out and it was quite embarrassing. I don't think anyone would imagine someone like Butterbean could hold his own in the ring with todays MMA stars so imagine what could happen to a WWE superstar. Sure there are probably a few WWE superstars that could hold their own but would they be aloud to compete in this type of format? Probably not. So in the end you wouldn't get to see who you wanted in this type of match so would you really want it?

I would like to look a professional Wrestler who is younger and has been expert to be a Hooker(IE a prowrestler who knows the actual strikes too)to provide MMA a are trying. The hindrance is most wrestlers in these days don't get that kind of coaching. I'm going to throw some names of some guys who could legitimately do MMA right now Evan Bourne Santino Marella Tyson Kidd David Hart Smith From TNA AJ patterns Rob Van Dam Samoa Joe Kiyoshi all of the guys above had been educated to fight for real as well as for show like they do. The most famous guy of these guys from an MMA point of view is Josh Barnett all of the guys above are similar to him and the additional again in time you go the extra guys you could pick.

WWE should bring back Brawl for All it was a very awesome concept. And I do like your idea I'd like to see current wrestlers with a MMA or College Wrestling background be in a Brawl for All such as CM Punk, Brock Lesnar, Wade Barrett, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger and Santino Marella. The chances of WWE bring back Brawl for All is very slim though but I'd like to see it happen. But all the points you made I agree with.

BQ: Anderson Silva, Alistair Overeem, Junior Dos Santos or Jeff Monson.

    OH LORD!!!

    I REMEMBER THAT!!!

That Brawl For All had EVERYONE in the looker room b8tching like little girls!

Bob Holly got pisses off at Bart Gunn...

    Jim Cornette was against it...

Jim Ross fell short on his promises to Dr. Death...

Dr. Death WAS SO PISSED at what happened...

Jim Ross and Dr. Death had a fallout after it was done...

    Savio Vega was legitimately hurt...

    JBL lost his temper...

    Bart Gunn jobbed to Butterbean...

The whole thing was a complete chaos form the very beginning!

    ---------

Sorry, I neglected your BQ: Alberto Del Rio would win it very easily.
