    Greetings,

Witnesses agree that, in this age of expanded Biblical knowledge, people are more culpable for not recognizing the truth of God’s Word.

While Witnesses believe individuals can understand the basic teachings of the Bible on their own, the evidence from God's Word, history, and present experience shows that to come to a *complete* knowledge of *every* doctrine individuals must be associated with the Christian congregation.

This is evidenced by the fact that God has always used an organized teaching method to disseminate his Truth. The current method is the True Christian Congregation. Paul identified this channel to the Ephesian Christians when he wrote that "there might be made known *THROUGH the congregation* the greatly diversified wisdom of God." He wrote that the "congregation," was "the pillar and support of the truth" (1Tim.3:15; Eph.3:10, 11).

The apostles did not come to an accurate knowledge by reading their Bibles on their own. None of the first century Christians gained a complete knowledge by just reading the Bible alone. Look at Apollos (Ac 18:24-28). He was a very educated man and the account says that he was "mighty" or "had a sound knowledge" in the Scriptures. It says he also was "zealous in the spirit." Yet even with his great biblical knowledge he still had to have "the way of God explained more accurately" to him. And that by a couple of "tent makers."

The Ethiopian eunuch is another example showing that mere access to the Word of God and personally reading it is not enough to gain a complete knowledge that leads to salvation. Only after Philip the evangelizer explained the prophecy to him was he was ready to be baptized as a disciple of Christ. Scriptures such as Acts 8:27-38 and Eph.4:11-13 show that more is needed than merely reading the Bible by oneself (Cf. Mt.22:29; Jn.17:17).

The Great Commission by Christ showed that others would come to an accurate knowledge by being taught by true Christians not just by reading the Bible (Mt.28:19,20).

The scriptures are very clear that in the last days Christ would appoint a "faithful slave" over ALL his followers and this slave would dispense proper spiritual food or knowledge (Mt.24:45,46).

All this shows that the Christian Congregation would be the means by which people gained accurate knowledge which is based on the Bible.

History and current experience has proven that just reading the Bible alone has not produced true Christians or unity among the churches of Christendom. Their historical record is of blood thirsty wars, immorality, and sectarian violence (Mt.7:21-23; 2Tim3:5; Gal.5:19-23). Today Catholics continue to kill Catholics and Protestants kill Protestants, something true Christians would not do (1Jn.3:10,15; 4:8). These religions have moved even further away from the Bible's requirements and teachings. Our hearts and the historical record tells us that any of these religions cannot possibly be trusted to be the channel of Biblical truth.

The evidence is that only Jehovah's Witnesses can meet the Scriptural requirements of being the True Christian Congregation and "the pillar and support of Truth" (1Tim. 3:15).

Through extensive study individual Jehovah's Witnesses have come to trust the accuracy of the information the Watchtower presents. Through experience they have proven that all True Christians are associated with Jehovah's Witnesses and this organization is the only one which gives solid evidence of being God's congregation.

The worldwide work of Jehovah's Witnesses gives evidence that they are the means God has chosen to dispense Biblical truth. JWs are engaged in the greatest Bible education work ever done in all human history (Mt.24:14; 28:18-20). Every one of them are imitating Christ in preaching, teaching, and living according to Christian standards. The unprecedented unity and peace that exists among Jehovah's Witnesses is further confirmation from the Holy Spirit (1Pt.2:21; Jn.13:34,35; Mt 5:44; Gal.5:19ff).

    Yours,

    BAR-ANERGES

After I was once a Jehovah's Witness, I believed the whole lot the Governing physique instructed me. I believed that handiest Jehovah's Witnesses had "the truth" and that every one different religions were false. How would I consider in any other case? I knew no higher. I used to be totally stylish on the Watch Tower Society - for "the trustworthy and discrete slave" to dispense non secular meals to the likes of me. Possibly there is an aspect of actuality in what they say in the 15 August 1981 Watchtower article - the bit about folks that have started to learn the Bible for themselves, without steerage from the Watchtower supplier, who have concluded that Christian doctrines on the soul, hell, heaven and the triune nature of the Godhead are certainly biblical. That's what happened to me, anyway. So that they do proper to warn their individuals in opposition to utilising their brains to think for themselves lest the "different sheep" observe how they have been taught a false gospel and vote with their toes. Learn the Bible for your self? Unthinkable! Goes correct back to the darkish a while when the Roman Catholic Church used to burn men and women on the stake for precisely that style of thing.

Sonny, I can tell you this. I have been a Jehovah's Witness my entire life. (I am 30) When I was old enough to decide for myself if I wanted to serve Jehovah, or leave this belief I did research. I came to the conclusion, and decided by my own free will that this is where I want to be. This really is the truth. It has brought so much happiness to my life. Words cannot even truly convey what it has done for me.

If you are truly curious, and want to find out for yourself. I encourage you to do your own research. Look through the Watchtower website and see if you find anything interesting. I am sure if you dig deep, the information that you find will make perfect sense. You can even get a free bible study if you want. And it will be at your convenience! It is from Jehovah God to help His Witnesses. You really think that the ''information age'' can do a better job of shedding new light on the Word of God than what is given by God Himself? I just can't go by what man says.

  • How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.
  • "in this day and age of information" Not many do know the scriptures.

Ever see Jeopardy? The Bible/scriptures is what they consider the hardest category for contestants to answer. Even after years of being on still the category few knew. Because few are taught it well. And they ask basic questions not personal doctrines. Yet few of these suppose higher education suppose so called smarties knew it well.

Also, This may be the age of information-if you study well-it's also an age of much misinformation. That is a fact

For instants one way people get information is through the web, While Web literacy demands some intelligent of Internet use and can offer much information, Much of the information has bias in it and there is a whole lot of misinformation on it. That is a fact.

Even when reading an article in the Journal of Medicine, it doesn’t hurt to look again — there may be twenty other well known good sources that refuted it with good sounding reason.

Is there a big danger to global warming or is it more hype.?You will find many science sites each offering their opinions, showing perhaps only the facts that lean in their favor of how they see it. Few offer all the facts. One can read and be swayed easy either way. (Often we are lazy to look at all the facts out there or study well--we just take the facts we like or we think is enough, dropping even other facts maybe) The same on biblical information.

The spectrum of misinformation out in the world and given to us will continue to grow until misinformation is strictly regulated, which seems unlikely if not impossible in the near future, not to mention undesirable by some (it's not in their best interest). The best protection one can have against misinformation is to adopt a critical stance toward all information. Pursue the source of the information we find truth in and can see it's benefits. Always look for obvious clues of propaganda . Look for bias. The bias may be slight, and it may be one you agree with, but it’s usually there in many of our avenues of information.

Even school often teach outdated information such as on the subject of evolution. Things we know better on now but they are still in many of their copied textbooks.

    >> An age of both information (as you say) and also a high amount of misinformation (which you forgot to say)<<

Yes, "Aids" to help in understanding are needed for many. And in many areas.

The bible can stand on it's own-yes .It's inspired by a truthful God. But not many do understand it like they should. Just the way it is. Your not saying ALL understand it well are you after reading it?

Peter had the greatest teacher in the world but sometimes he error in Judgement and understanding. And had to be corrected. The Apostle Paul (and others) wrote letters to clear up some things -----those were "Aids" in understanding. The people than had the scriptures and were taught Jesus's words , yet letters were added and still "Aids" were needed for some. Maybe all didn't need it but seems many benefited by them.

I have no problems with "Aids " to help others understand things better "even if some can on the bible alone (so what?), in fact I'm not sure why you would, you may not agree with them. That is just an opinion of yours and maybe some others, others don't agree and they deserve to look for themselves if it's an "Aid" to them or not.

I have a contact, very well studied in this area of Jewish history. Knows their history, how they see things, and practices and rituals well. I look at his" aids" often to understanding certain history and ways of the Jewish people in the past. Even though I know biblical many things about them--It is an "Aid" to my understanding of how some things came to be.

I know the scriptures fairly well and if I only was allowed one religious book the bible would be it, but I enjoy certain "Aids " very much that add to my understanding and adds to more how to live a better life.

    Why shouldn't others?

Bible and religious "Aids" are not necessary for all to understand the bible - but many do benefit from them. I think it's "great" a place of worships offers so information on so many subjects for people to learn from about God, the bible , world happenings and better living. Not many offer as much as they do to for their flock. "Feed My Sheep was told Peter" and that they do

If you are asking in earnest please read (Matthew 24:45) “Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time?

King James) Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

The scriptures explain that this faithful and discreet slave is a group not an individual person and this slave class is also known as the "Little Flock; Christ Bride Class and the 144,000 sealed from among the true followers of the true God(Revelation 14:2-4)33 And they are singing as if a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders; and no one was able to master that song but the hundred and forty-four thousand, who have been bought from the earth. 4 These are the ones that did not defile themselves with women; in fact, they are virgins. These are the ones that keep following the Lamb no matter where he goes. These were bought from among mankind as firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.

Jehovah’s purpose is to sanctify his great and holy name and vindicate his universal sovereignty. By his incomparably wise “administration,” or way of managing things, Jehovah sent his firstborn Son to earth, where he was tested to the limit. Furthermore, Jehovah determined that the Messianic Kingdom government of his Son would include humans who had also upheld His sovereignty until death.—Ephesians 1:8-12; Revelation 2:10, 11.

Jehovah showed his great love for Adam’s descendants by having his Son come to the earth and by selecting from among mankind those who would be the Son’s joint heirs in the Kingdom government. How could that benefit others who have proved faithful to Jehovah, from Abel onward? Born slaves to sin and death, imperfect humans would need to be spiritually and physically healed and brought to perfection, in line with Jehovah’s original purpose for mankind.

These called-out ones are “bought from among mankind” to carry out a special work here on earth and then to be with Christ in heaven as his bride. As there were requirements for membership in the Hebrew congregation of God, so there are requisites for membership in the Christian “congregation of God.” Those making it up are spiritual virgins who keep following the Lamb, Jesus Christ, no matter where he goes, “and no falsehood was found in their mouths; they are without blemish.”—Re 14:1-5.

    Dan 2:44 says) “And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite;

Now I ask you did you not see congregation, Kingdom and heavenly government within these scriptures?

From a logical standpoint have you ever seen a government, congregation or Kingdom operate without some sort of structure?

For all those that thing they can understand scripture on their own ignore what is written at Acts 8: 30 Philip ran alongside and heard him reading aloud Isaiah the prophet, and he said: “Do you actually know what you are reading?” 31 He said: “Really, how could I ever do so, unless someone guided me?” And he entreated Philip to get on and sit down with him

Jesus said he would send the Helper(God's Holy Spirit) it's [only by means of this can the scriptures be understood(John 17:3)

The Watchtower organization has been around for 125 years.

The bible has been around for thousands of years. What do you think? Is it reasonable to think nobody had clear understanding of the bible except for the past 125 years

In fact, in light of how drastically doctrines in the Watchtower have changed during it's history, these 125 years are really about 40 to 50 years..

Let's put our thinking hats on folks. The bible was made for mankind to understand. Yes there are passages which are cryptic, but those are not needed to understand how to live your life. The record clearly shows that the Watchtower society has no authority to say that only they understand the bible. That's simply ridiculous.

Theres so much more to it than just helping to understand the Bible. Take this for instance, a local kingdom hall is needing remodeling, volunteers are needed, to be a volunteer we had to meet and watch a safety video, how many people showed up? Well over 100 people, the place was packed. The video was made by JW, and the theme was of course safety, but safety above all else, above money and time. Its usually money, schedules and then safety. You don't find that kind of attitude in this world. Thats just one of the things it helps accomplish

What is so great about the Watchtower organization is we are doing the same work Jesus Christ did; preach the good news of God's kingdom; Luke 4:43.

Before going to a congregation of JW's I went to nearly every church in the small town I grew up in.

None of these places came to my home to study the Bible with me. However, JW's did.

I read the Bible the first time when I was 15. I didn't understand it, and while going to churches I naturally had questions about the Bible. Not one church answered my questions, they just said, are you saved.

Yet, JW's came to my home twice a week and studied the Bible with, and taught me who Jehovah is, Jesus is, and what God's kingdom is.

So, yes, the Organization is great.

Jehovah's Witnesses maintain high standard of morality and encourage study of God's Word. They also allow young people to reach out for responsible positions, which has been good training in making them model citizens.

If they would go back to worshipping Jesus, as the Bible instructs us to ask things of the Son of God, be truthful about the fact that many more are going to heaven than 144,000, and focus more on humanitarian efforts like the First Century Christians did (food distribution) instead of elevating the lifestyles the Governing Body, they'd be a model organization.
