How should I ask people to bring food to the wedding.?
I'm looking for some wording advice on how to ask my guests to bring their favorite pie or cobbler with the recipe to our reception. We aren't huge fans of cake so we have decided to do a pie bar but I'm not sure how to ask. We are on a very limited budget because of some medical issues the last Year. so It's a small wedding just family.

You really can't ask your guests to help cater your wedding. Providing all food and beverages served is the role of the host(s). If you are issuing the invitations, the host is you.
If people come forward and VOLUNTEER themselves, asking you if they can bring something, or help out with your wedding planning in some way, THEN you can indicate your request that they bringing pies for dessert (and afterwards you send prompt thank you notes to those helpers).
But you can't request in your invitations, regardless of how you phrase it, that they bring food-- it just would not be polite. They are your guests-- you are supposed to feed THEM.

Well in first place, if I can't serve that many people, I would not invite them. If I have to invite them, I will serve them food at my own cost. It may be something really low cost but I would not ask them to bring food at my wedding. In many parts of the world, it would be really cheap and mean to ask your guests to bring food.

I would not put this on the invitation. Call, text or email family only and ask them to do this.

Just send something in the mail like "Hey everyone! Im so happy your going to be able to attend our wedding! Its going to be very fun! But as you all know we are on a limited budget, so we have a fun idea for a pie bar! So, if you could try to participate in our pie bar by bringing your favorite pie/cobbler/ or any dessert! Its going to be so much fun! Thanks so much!" :)
Source(s): Also, if I gave you the best answer could you please give me the ten points for doing so? Thanks! Good luck on your wedding I hope everything works out well! :) - How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.
